Holy Cow!

Wow! Has it really been since March since I posted on here? Amazing how time flies! Well, we are still here. We have just been far to busy. Not to mention my addiction to facebook has been where most of our pictures have been posted. However, I've been blog stalking lately and realizing how much I missed blogging...so I'm back. At least for now. :) As busy as we have been I'm thinking that I may need to update every week so that my updates aren't 5 pages long...like this one will probably be. So here is what we have been up to since March. Now, I'm posting at work (shhhh) so I don't have my pictures with me. I know, I know! You don't come here to read about what we are doing, but to look at our 2 adorable little boys, but I promise I will update with only pictures very soon. Okay....so here's the run down....

March: *Christopher started playing soccer. He was very good...when he wanted to participate. By the time they actually got around to playing and not just doing drills he was kind of checked out and tired and just ready to go home. I'm hoping that next year will go better when he is another year older.

*We had several birthday's during that month. Some of which I'll post pictures from later and we also found out that my sister and brother-in-law are expecting their second child.

*Sean and I also had one of our big date nights where he took me to see Phantom of the Opera at the Kansas City Music Hall. We had been before, and will go again, but it was amazing. We ate dinner at Cinzitti's before going (YUM!) and then met up with my little brother and his fiance. It was both of their first times seeing the show. It was so great to get to go with them.

April: Another busy month! It started with more soccer with Topher and more bridal showers for my little sister Trina.

*I became a Godmother to our best friends 3 children (another one on the way). Such an honor. Thank you again Frank and Kezia. It is truly a privilege.

*I turned 27 (ahhhh..a little to close to 30 for me) on Easter this year. It was great to get to celebrate both events with both of my families.

*We also had a wedding and a couple more birthday parties this month too.

May: Definitely busier than April (hard to believe right?)! It started with a trip to Columbia for our nephew Collin's 2nd birthday. Also, we welcome Baby Jules into our world. Our best friends had their 4th child, a little girl. She is so precious.

*My little sister got married on the 16th! Congratulations Trina and Eric! So that took up almost the entire first half of the month with planning and last minute details. I had the honor of being not only one of her Matron's of Honor, but also being the photographer at the reception and making their pre-wedding photo montage video. Plus both boys were ring bearers...2 out of 6! Christopher ended up being the last one standing! Way to go Topher!

*Also on the 16th Sean's little sister, Shanan, graduated with her bachelor's from MU! Congratulations Shanan, we are very proud of you! Unfortunately, since it was Trina's wedding we didn't get to make it to both events. So the day after we met up with Sean's family at Joe's Crab Shack for a celebration with crab legs and shrimp! Yummm! The boys LOVED it and are constantly asking to go back to the 'Crab Shack'.

*On the 23rd we met up with Trina and Eric and the families to watch them open their gifts after getting back from their honeymoon in Florida. After that we made our second trip to Jiggle Jam at Crown Center to see 'They Might Be Giants' and Jim Crosgrove "Mr. Stinky Feet'. The kids love it and we have a great time too.

*We also had another date night, Thanks Mom and Dad, where we went to see Star Trek. Awesome! I know, I never thought it would happen, but Sean may have converted me yet into the land of the geeks. Definitely a great movie and we can't wait for more!

*The month ended with starting bridal showers for my little brother's fiance, Emma. Also, with Trivia night at the church, were sadly our team did not maintain our first place status, but still had a lot of fun!

*This month also brought about some scary news. We hosted Mother's Day at our house this year. Which was great! It was our first, non-birthday, event at our house. We really enjoyed it. However we noticed that Alex's right eye was pointing in towards his nose when he was concentrating on something or really tired. We called our pediatrician who referred us to a local optometrist where we scheduled an appointment for the 28th, however we noticed the weekend of my little sister's wedding that it was getting significantly worse, so we called the office and moved the appointment up to the 20th. They dilated his eyes and did an eye exam. The doc. said that his vision looks very good, so glasses aren't an option, but we are probably going to have to do surgery. His eye muscles are weak which is causing his eye to drift inward. They can correct this by going in and tightening the muscles around the eye. However, this doctor referred us on to Children's Mercy, but we couldn't get an appointment until the end of June. (More on this as this post continues).

June: Just as busy as May. I had the privilege of taking my little brother, Trevor, and his fiance, Emma's, engagement pictures. We did them at our Grandma's farm and they turned out fabulous!

*We left the 2nd week of June for VACATION in Branson! Sean's parents, older sister and her family, and his grandma and her husband from Arizona were all their as well. We all had a wonderful time and a much needed break.

*We also celebrated Sean and my 6 year anniversary this month as well. We celebrated while in Branson by renting a wave runner for a couple of hours, touring a winery, and dinner while the boys spent the night with Sean's parents.

*Sean also had his birthday this month as well as father's day. June is always a busy month for him. :)

*We also had another family member get married. Congratulations Sarah and Bo!

*Sean had a golf tournament for work and my little brother's bachelor party of the same day. Which meant the boys and I had another Mommy Day. Always a good time.

*Alex finally had his appointment with Dr. Olitzky at Children's Mercy. He agreed with the first doctor, Dr. Hahnson, that his problem isn't vision related so glasses won't help anything. He actually said that he has better vision then most children his age, however both of his eyes are starting to drift. Also, because we went for over a month without any kind of treatment his right eye has gotten weak. This hasn't changed his actual vision, just how much effort the eye wants to put forth to see. That being the case we began patching, or "eye stickering" as we call it. He has to keep a sticker on his left eye (to help strengthen the right and force it to focus more) all but 1 hour of awake time per day. We are still going to have to do surgery to fix the underlying problem. However, if we try to do the surgery without strengthening the eye it will most likely drift in again because it is now weak and won't have the strength to maintain the focus. However patching will not fix the actual issue, which is weakened eye muscles. (Again, more on this later).

July: July began with our annual trip to Columbia to celebrate the 4th. This year the boys rode down and back with Sean's parents (who for those of you who don't know are full-time RVer's and are parked here at least until fall) which meant we got the trip all to ourselves. I forgot how nice a drive that can be without fighting over which movie we will watch or song we'll listen to. :) The 4th's weather wasn't so great, but we had fun anyway! We battled the rain and went ahead and headed to the Tiger's stadium to watch the fireworks. The symphony couldn't play due to the weather, but they had a recording, and I honestly think the boys had more fun playing in the rain than anything else. We also had our traditional 4th of July dinner. I am aware that it's not a "food" holiday like Thanksgiving to "normal" people, but to us foodies and BBQ junkies...it is! We had smoked ribs (Thanks Sean!) and German potato salad and all of the fixin's. It was a great weekend.

*The next weekend, the 11th, was my little brother's wedding! We also had big jobs in this wedding. I helped with their pictures, Alex was the ring bearer, Sean and I both sang (together) and we made their pre-wedding photo montage video as well. Congratulations Trevor and EmmaLee!

*Alex had his latest doctor's appointment with Dr.Oltizky at Children's Mercy on the 13th. His vision strength has improved a lot, but it is still not perfect. He is to continue to wear his "eye sticker" consistently for the next 2 weeks, going back to the doctor on the 28th to have it checked again. We have, however, gone ahead and scheduled surgery for August 21. He is still doing very well with everything.
*After his appointment we took the boys to Penguin Park, their favorite park in KC and then got to meet up with our best friend and 3 of my 4 godchildren for an early dinner. It was so good to get to see them. We miss you guys!
*Also during the week of the 28th the boys attend VBS at our church. Because they also attend daycare at our church they attend VBS during the day as opposed to the nightly sessions, which meant we had a week with nothing to do in the evenings. It was very nice.
*On the 17th our nephew Brewer had an Indiana Jones themed birthday party which of course the boys had a ball with. Also, Trevor and EmmaLee got back from their honeymoon in Florida and we met at my parent's house on the 18th to watch them open their gifts.
*After that we headed back down to Penguin Park to enjoy the beautiful weather, let the boys play, and have a picnic. They also had their first treats from an actual ice cream truck. Very exciting. We met up with Sean's parent's at NationWide RV's to check out some new rigs and then had a fabulous dinner at Senior Tequila's, our favorite Mexican restaurant in the city.
*Sunday the boys had their VBS program at church. Alex was not at all interested in participating in singing the songs in front of the church, but Christopher had a great time. That is, until we were leaving. He somehow got tripped up when he and Sean were leaving the bathroom and face planted the tile floor. When I saw the amount of blood coming from his front tooth I immediately made a panicked call to my sister, Leighanna, who is a dental assistant, and we rushed Topher over to see her. She took a look and said it looked bruised, but not loose and that it was still probably going to hurt for awhile and that we should try to get him into the dentist early next week.
*So...Topher had his first dental appointment this week. Tuesday I took Christopher to see the dentist about his tooth and have his first cleaning. He was SOOOO good. It certainly didn't help that Aunt Leighanna was the one doing all of the work. He thought the toothbrush felt funny and that the "sucker thing" was a lot of fun. Also, the dentist said that everything looked okay for now. We may see some discoloration and it may remain tender for awhile, but so far it doesn't look like any permanent damage and it's already looking better. :)
*Last, but not least we found out that my sister and her husband are having a GIRL!!!! We are so excited. We would have been equally excited with a boy, but the chance to buy some pink and have a niece is very nice! We have already started shopping some. Congratulations Leighanna, Matt, and Joshua! We can't wait to meet little Kaleigh! She is going to be very spoiled... :)

****Well that's what we have been up to. Hard to believe I haven't had the time to update this blog huh? On top of all of that I choose to start back to school this summer through online classes at NWMSU (Go Bearcats!) and have taken 2 classes so far. I will take another 2 come fall and will, hopefully, continue until I'm done. I will try to be better in updating. Like I said maybe I'll just plan once a week, but we'll see how that goes. And I will post pictures when I have some free time from home. Until next time..... ******

Another Niece or Nephew!!!!!

More exciting news around here!!!! My sister, Leighanna, and my brother-in-law, Matt, along with our nephew, Josh (3), are going to welcome a new member to their family in November! We found out last weekend that they are expecting a little one. We are so excited and cannot wait to welcome a new niece or nephew into our family. If this one is a boy this will be the 6th boy! If it's a girl it will be the 1st! We will be sooo excited either way and cannot wait! Leigh is feeling really good so far and Josh is very excited to be a big brother and thinks that he wants a brother.

On the King front...we will post pictures at some point. :) I do have pictures uploaded to facebook though (it is so much easier than on here)..so if your a facebook fanatic like me..then "friend" me and you can view pictures of our beautiful boys on there. But at some point I will update pictures here too. Until then though.....

Congratulations to the Cooper family!!! We can't wait to meet a new mini-Cooper! We love you guys!

Christopher's playing soccer!

Okay...so I have totally been slacking on updating this blog. Mostly because I have become incredibly addicted to facebook and have been posting all of my pictures there and partly because I hate uploading photos here and can't wait to have our actually family website set back up. Any ways....back to the point of this update. :)

Christopher is now playing soccer. He had his first game today and it was so adorable. I will post a couple of pictures so you can see just how darn cute seeing a bunch of 4 and 5 years old chase after a ball is. Any I do have to brag on my beautiful son for a couple of minutes, that is what mom's are suppose to do right? He is pretty darn good. He hustles after the ball and gets out in front of the other kids. He kicks it and tries to score. So far he is doing very well. I am afraid though that I may turn into one of those competitive moms so if my child ever plays your child....don't take what I say personally...I just get very enthusiastic. LOL

Also...we have been very busy with birthday parties and weekend events and trips over the past couple of months. Hence why the blogging has been a slacking..but we just got my new laptop last week so hopefully it will help me keep things more up to date. I should have pictures of our new nephew Brendan and our trips from Columbia. As well as a couple of birthday parties, an RV show, Topher's first soccer game, some random weekend events, and who knows what else by the time I get to it...but I will try to get to it soon. :) Until then....if you are on facebook you can friend me and check out most of these pictures there.

A New Nephew!!!

I will post photo's as soon as I get some...but I had to go ahead and post our exciting news! We have a new nephew! Sean's sister Stephani and her husband Eric, along with new big brother Collin, welcomed Brendan Eric Worts into the family today, 2/7/09 at 5:00 pm! Brendan was 7 lb 5 oz and 19 in long. Both Mom and baby are doing wonderful. Stephani's 19 hour labor with Brendan was significantly easier than her 42 hour labor with Collin! We will not get to see this new member of our family until next weekend and you better believe that I'll be posting lots of pictures after that. In the mean time though, I will post what I get from the family here for your viewing pleasure. This makes nephew number 5 for us, no nieces yet, but we are VERY happy with all of our beautiful boys! When Sean told the boys that Aunt Stephi had her baby and that Collin had a baby brother Christopher said "I just knew it was a boy all along!" So cute! Our boys can't wait to see their new little cousin and neither can we!
On a side note our extended family also added a new member to the ever growing pet category. Moogie and Papaw (Sean's parents) welcomed a beagle named Porthos into their home this week as well. The boys will be very excited to meet this new addition too. In Sean's family alone we now have 2 Malteses, a golden retrieve, a beagle, and a turtle. So far we have contributed nothing to this, although Christopher keeps wanting a cat. Neither Sean nor I are cat people so we are hoping we can put him off for another year and just get a dog, but we'll see.

More cute stories...and I swear Christmas pictures are coming!

So I have to share some more cute King boy stories. They are just so cute these days!

With the inauguration being this week Christopher's preschool class has been talking about our new President. When I picked him up from school one day his weekly reader had President Obama on the cover. The conversation went something like this:
Mommy:Who is this? (Pointing to the picture)
Christopher: Barack-Obama
M: Oh, what is his job?
C:He is the PresiVent
M: Oh, what does he do?
C: He takes care of the town and makes the laws
M: Oh. That sounds important. Did you learn anything else?
C: He lives with his family in a white house in Washington C.D.
---It was just to cute! He was very matter of fact.
Yesterday morning when Christopher was waking up I was asking him if he slept well and if he had dreams. He said that he had had dreams. When asked what he dreamed about he said:
"Barack Obama and his house. George still wishes he was there." LOL
-I had no idea that my son was on a first name basis with our last president! They have apparently been covering politics a lot at school this week because this seems to be the focus of our conversations all week long. :)

Another day on the way home from school I asked Alex how his day was and that conversation went like this:
M: Alex, how was your day? Who did you play with?
A: I play Daltry.....um...Sasha....um....Shelia
M: You played with Shelia today? (Shelia is one of his young teachers)
A: Shelia is "silly" (What I thought he said)
M: Shelia is silly?
A: No...Shelia is ??? ( I couldn't understand him)
C: No Mommy....Shelia is pretty
M: Oh...Alex is Shelia pretty?
A: Yeah...Shelia's pretty!
C: I can't hear this...I'm a guy!
--I absolutely could not keep it together. A 4 year old complaining about hearing that a girl was pretty and a 2 year old making the comment! I think that we are in for the long haul with them! LOL
Alex has also been on this kick of not saying "Yes" or "No"..but "Sure" or "No thanks"
"Alex, can you put your pants down the hole (laundry shoot)" Alex: "Ummmmmm...Sure"
"Alex, go and tell Daddy that you need juice." Alex: "Ummmmm...no thanks! Mommy do it!"
It is always "Ummmmmm" before he answers. He is getting so big! Unfortunately, he has been fighting a fever for the past 2 days. I hate that he is sick, but he is being very lovey and clingy and I will never turn that down.

I will be posting Christmas pictures soon. Maybe even later today so stay tuned! :)
